McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Northwest Conference with a physical 1-1 draw against Willamette on Wednesday evening at the Linfield Soccer Complex. Both Linfield's (5-3-5, 3-2-4) goals came in the second half.
The Wildcats finished with nine shots, five on goal, six corner kicks and 17 fouls.
Emilee Miller finished with three saves while
Amalia Tufts and
Riley Omonaka scored the goals for Linfield.
Jocelyn Jacobs received the only yellow card of the match for the Wildcats.
Willamette held the majority of possession in the first half and finished the first 45 minutes with a 5-4 shot advantage. The Bearcats' aggression paid off with a converted penalty from Sophie Cleland in the 34th minute.
The Wildcats found new energy in the second half with
Kamahie Samudio connecting with Tufts scoring in the opening three minutes. Later
Riley Omonaka scored her fourth goal in as many matches in the 86th minute. Samudio recorded her second assist of the match with the connection to Omonaka.
The Bearcats tied the match in the final minute with Cleland scoring her second goal of the match.
Willamette (1-9-3, 1-6-2) finished with six shots, five on goal and 10 fouls. Siera Edwards tallied three saves.
