McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Whitworth proved why it has one of the best offenses in the Northwest Conference on Saturday afternoon. The visiting Pirates (6-3-1, 4-1-1 Northwest Conference) scored in both halves and topped Linfield 3-1 at the Linfield Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats combined for five shots, one on goal, three corner kicks and six fouls.
Colby Reese recorded three saves and
E.J. Sablan led the offense with a goal.
Cole Friesen scored the opening goal for the Pirates in the 14th minute after a long assist from Clayton Crockett. The Wildcats responded with a goal of their own in the 32nd minute with
Seamus Miller finding Sablan for the score.
Friesen netted his second goal of the half in the 42nd minute with the assist coming from Christian Pumpelly.
Crockett recorded his second assist finding teammate Eric Shaporda for the third Pirates goal.
The Pirates finished with 15 shots, six on goal, five corner kicks and four fouls. Neither Whitman goalkeeper recorded a save and Friesen led the offense with two goals on six shots.
