'Cats enter week tied for second place with Blues, Pirates

THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the week at 3-5-1 overall with a winning 2-1-1 Northwest Conference record. Whitman (5-4-1) and Whitworth (4-3-2) also own 2-1-1 NWC marks, entering the week in a three-way tie for second place with the Wildcats.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats are coming off a pair of 1-0 shutouts over George Fox and Pacific. It's the first time since 2016 that the 'Cats won back-to-back NWC matches. Cameron Gaines scored the lone goal against the Bruins while Sid Kosaris notched the game-winner against the Boxers. It was Gaines' first career goal. He leads the team with two assists. Kosaris leads the team with three goals on 16 shots on goal, which rank second in the NWC. Seamus Miller and Patrick Moes have two goals apiece. Evan Stafford leads the 'Cats with 747 minutes in his freshman campaign. Henry Boudreaux earned the win in goal in both matches last week. He's 2-2-1 with 16 saves while ranking No. 4 in the NWC with a 1.82 goals against average.
 
WHITMAN AT A GLANCE
The Blues split in Tacoma last week, losing 3-1 at Puget Sound before pulling off a 2-1 upset of defending champion Pacific Lutheran. They rank No. 4 in the NWC with 16 goals. Six of those goals were fired off the boots of Edwin Romero and Jacob Burrill, who lead the team with three goals apiece. Romero also has an assist. Jossue Tobar and Sawyer Valero are right behind with two goals. Three goalkeepers have seen action. Colby Ramsey has seen the most minutes with just over 377. He's 2-3-0 in goal with a 1.67 goals against average.
 
WHITWORTH AT A GLANCE
The Pirates also split in Tacoma, falling 3-1 at Pacific Lutheran and winning 2-1 at Puget Sound. They lead the NWC with 180 shots and 20 shots per match. The Pirates put up a NWC season-high 44 shots against Walla Walla on Sept. 1. Beckett Arthur has a team-leading four goals with three assists. Jordan Voigt and Cole Friesen have three goals each. Jaime Rodriguez leads the team with five assists. Andrew Wolotira has separated himself in goal with a 3-2-0 record and a 1.93 goals against average.
 
HISTORY
Linfield and Whitman have met 50 times. The all-time series is even at 24-24-2. The 'Cats are 13-12-1 in Walla Walla. The Blues have won eight straight matches in the series. They swept the season series in 2021, winning 5-1 in Walla Walla and 1-0 in McMinnville. The last win for the 'Cats over the Blues came in a 1-0 home shutout in 2016.
 
Linfield is 12-32-8 in the all-time series with Whitworth. The 'Cats have scored 41 goals on the Pirates, averaging 0.79 per match. The 'Cats were riding a four-match win streak before the Pirates won both meetings in 2021, winning 6-1 in Spokane and 2-1 in double overtime in McMinnville.
