McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield took control for most of the match, but Lewis & Clark caught a break with two late goals to force a 3-3 tie Sunday afternoon at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
Senior forward
Laney Green doubled her goal total, finding the back of the net twice to lead the Wildcat attack. She headed in the opening goal in the 30
th minute off a corner kick by freshman
Mia Curtaz. Curtaz was credited with an assist, the first of her collegiate career.
Lewis & Clark tied it at 1-1 when Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz scored her first goal of the season in the 38
th minute.
Ruby Lacktrup gave the Wildcats their lead back in the 49
th, scoring off a cross by fellow freshman
Janae Lewis.
Green notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 65
th off a penalty kick to give the 'Cats a two-goal cushion. She finished tied for the match high with four shots, two on goal, in 64 minutes played. Lewis contributed two shots, one on goal.
The 'Cats outshot the Pioneers 13-12, landing four of those shots on goal. They added eight corner kicks to the Pios' one.
Everything was going Linfield's way until Celeste Schreifels scored twice in the span of just under six minutes to prevent the 'Cats from earning their first win in Northwest Conference play. She was assisted by Jeni Baez in the 84
th before scoring unassisted with 15 seconds remaining in the match.

The 'Cats (2-4-2, 0-3-1 NWC) will split their time at home next week, playing at George Fox on Saturday before hosting Pacific on Sunday. Sunday's match with the Boxers is set to start at noon.
