McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Seniors
Kara Thomas and
Kayla Moss led the Linfield Wildcats with six kills apiece in a three-set loss to Saint Martin's Tuesday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
The 'Cats fell by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-13. Thomas finished with three digs and three blocks while Moss had four digs.
Aylea Dixon registered 17 assists while
Ryli Kalahiki added six digs.
Linfield went up 6-0 off the bat and led as much as seven points in the opening set, but Saint Martin's marched back to tie it at 18-all then won a back-and-forth battle to take the set, 25-22.
The second set was even until the 23
rd rally when the Saints started to pull away with a 6-0 run to make it 17-11. They tacked on to their lead to dominate the set, 25-15. It was a similar story in set No. 3 with the Saints dominating by 12 points, 25-13.
The Saints, members of Division II's Great Northwest Athletic Conference, amassed 44 kills, 42 assists, 56 digs, 15 aces and three blocks. Tia Allen led the way with 20 kills on a .441 hitting percentage. She also finished second on the team with 12 digs. Jennifer Soha just missed double digits with nine kills while Abigail Halstead had a match-high 15 digs. Setter Karla Soto racked up 35 assists.

The 'Cats (5-4, 1-1 NWC) return to Northwest Conference play to end the week, hosting Pacific Lutheran at 7 p.m. on Friday before playing at George Fox on Saturday.
