Wildcats score but can't tame Yotes in Game 2 loss

CALDWELL, Idaho – Whenever Linfield scored, the College of Idaho answered as the Wildcats lost 10-7 to hand the Yotes the series Saturday afternoon at Wolfe Field.

Linfield scored three runs in the second inning off an RBI triple by Jacob Campos, an RBI double by Jackson Horner and an RBI single by Bodey Smith. The College of Idaho cut the Linfield lead to one with two runs in the next half inning. The Yotes tacked on four runs in the third and three more in the fourth.

After going three innings without scoring a run, the Wildcats put up a two-spot in the sixth inning when Branden Pasion drove a two-run single to right field to score Cole Hoskins and Tanner Jacques. The Yotes cashed in another insurance run in the seventh. The 'Cats tried to stage a late comeback with two runs in the ninth. Campos reached on an error by the first baseman to send Garrett Moen home. Horner followed with an RBI single that scored Mike LaVigne. Both ninth-inning runs were unearned.

Pasion led the team with a 3-for-5 performance to go with two RBI. Horner and Jacques notched two hits apiece. Horner and Campos matched Pasion's two RBI with a pair of their own.

Weston Miller and Trevor Watkins collected three hits apiece. Watkins led the Yotes with three runs while Miller scored twice and drove in two. Jonah Hultberg and Kirby Robertson also sent two runs across the plate.

Linfield starter Andrew Del Biaggio allowed nine runs, six earned, on 10 hits in four innings pitched to fall to 3-6 on the season. Nick Alder gave up one run in his 3 1/3 innings while Sam Adams picked up the final two outs of the eighth.
