PORTLAND, Ore. – At the Lewis & Clark Invitational, Linfield athletes put the finishing touches on their techniques in preparation for next week's Northwest Conference Track and Field Championships.
The two-day meet was contested Friday and Saturday at George Fox University and Lewis & Clark College.
WOMEN
Jerrica Pachl was the Wildcats' lone event winner, leaping 5 feet, 5¼ inches to win the high jump, two inches better than the next closest competitor.
Jennifer Torres Bermudez ran 1:02.69 in the 400-meter dash, placing fifth overall.
MEN
In the 400,
Chandler Morris clocked 52.51, crossing the finish line in fourth place.
Calvin Cahill also nabbed a fourth-place finish in the 800 in 1:57.90.
Keaton Wood was fourth in the 200, clocking 22.52.
In the throws,
Matt Metcalf was runner-up in the javelin (180-9).
Freshman
Nick Olsen tossed the shot 44 feet, 6 inches to capture third place.
Grant Jackson secured third place in the hammer, heaving the weighted ball 142-7.
Jacob Slifka was third in the discus with a mark of 147-6.
NEXT
The NWC Championships get underway Friday afternoon and continue Saturday morning. Linfield's men will be looking to improve on last season's fourth-place team result while the women are hoping to climb from last season's sixth-place finish.
