McMINNVILLE, Ore. –
Daniel Kahn nearly doubled his season RBI total and the Wildcat pitching staff shut down NAIA Bushnell in an 11-1 rout of the Beacons on a brisk Tuesday night at Roy Helser Field.
Kahn went 2 for 5 while driving in five, bringing his season total to 11 RBI. He opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run double to left-center field to score
Tanner Jacques and
Mike LaVigne. He blew the game open in the fourth with another double to left-center that sent three more runs across the plate.
The Linfield bats came alive for four runs in the first inning. Following Kahn's double,
Cameron Skinner sent
Branden Pasion home on a sacrifice fly. Kahn scored on the next batter when
Bodey Smith single to left. The 'Cats put up four more runs in the fourth. Skinner pulled through again behind Kahn, driving the center fielder in with a single to right.
The Wildcats scored a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to secure the 10-run victory. The Beacons' only run of the game was scored in the fourth inning on a solo home run to left by Jeff Fripp. Fripp finished 3 for 4 while Brendan Frazier collected two hits.
Kahn, LaVigne and Pasion each scored twice while Skinner finished with two RBI. Nine different Linfield batters recorded a hit as the 'Cats outhit the Beacons 10-7.
Nick Alder picked up the win on the mound to improve to 2-0 on the season. He allowed just one hit and struck out three in two innings of work.
Gage Mack also claimed three batters via strikeout. Bushnell starter Ethan Sachs took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned in the first inning.

The 'Cats (6-8, 3-4 NWC) have now won back-to-back games and will return to NWC play against Whitman on March 12-13 in Walla Walla, Washington. Action starts at noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
