PORTLAND, Ore. – Linfield and Lewis & Clark both scored goals in the first half in a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon at Griswold Stadium.
The Wildcats and Pioneers tied in both of their meetings in 2022, the first matchup ending in a 3-3 draw on Sept. 25 in McMinnville. The Pios outshot the 'Cats 17-8, putting 11 of those shots on goal. The 'Cats had eight shots and four shots on goal. Five of their shots came in the second half.
Celeste Schreifels struck first for Lewis & Clark in the 26
th minute, scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season off an assist by Abby Morrow. Schreifels matched teammate Megan Yanagi with three shots, putting all three on goal in 90 minutes played. Brecklyn Beighle also played the full 90, registering a match-high four shots, two on goal.
The match was less than two minutes from halftime before
Sidra Griffin notched her first career goal in the 44
th. She redirected a corner kick from
Izzy Chauls into the left side of the net. Chauls was credited with her third assist of the season. She's tied for the team lead with
Janae Lewis,
Mia Curtaz and
Riley Omonaka.
Lewis led the 'Cats with three shots, one on goal.
Makenna Blix and
Laney Green had two shots and a shot on goal apiece.
Kathryn Pearson saw the most action with 87 minutes while
Bella Hanna played 77.
Alexa Fritz made eight saves in the draw, bringing her season total to 38. Fritz is 2-1-2 in goal with a 1.20 goals against average.

The 'Cats split next week at home. They host George Fox at noon on Saturday, which marks Senior Day for the program. The team will then hit the road on Sunday to take on Pacific. The season comes to an end in eastern Washington when the 'Cats play at Whitworth on Nov. 5 and at Whitman on Nov. 6.
