McMINNVILLE, Ore. – A strong defensive effort and a four-goal second half led Oregon Tech to a 5-0 win over the Linfield men's soccer team on Sunday.
The Owls put up 26 shots and 13 shots on goal to the Wildcats' five total shots in a physical match that saw 17 fouls between the two teams. The OIT back line made goalkeeper Joel Witts' job easy as he made one save on just one shot on goal by the 'Cats.
Jake Mitchell opened the scoring with an Olympic goal from the right corner in the ninth minute. The 'Cats would hold the Owls to a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The Owls tacked on four goals in the second half. Andrew Pasang and Arthur Proost scored unassisted goals in the 46
th and 49
th minutes, respectively. Proost scored again in the 58
th off an assist from Mitchell.
The fifth goal for the Owls came on a corner kick that deflected off a Linfield defender for an own goal.
