Lutes down 'Cats with four second-half goals

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – After a quiet first half, Pacific Lutheran scored four second-half goals to down the Linfield women's soccer team, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Linfield University Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.

Vera Panescu-Reich put the Lutes on the board in the 53rd minute, threading through the left side of the box and firing the ball to the bottom right corner of the net for her third goal of the season.

Junior forward Laney Green tied it for the Wildcats in the 56th minute. Pacific Lutheran goalkeeper Eva Wirth recovered the ball outside the box, allowing Green to set up an easy chip before Wirth could recover. It was Green's team-leading third goal of the season.

It was all PLU from that point on.

The Lutes took the lead with a goal by Lily Dose in the 66th, followed by another goal by Alyssa Jordan in the 76th, assisted by Kayden Hulquist. Panescu-Reich capped off a solid afternoon with her second goal of the match in the 79th.
