SPOKANE, Wash. – It was a long afternoon for the Linfield men's soccer team, which was on the wrong side of a 6-1 match against Whitworth on Sunday.
The Pirates scored three goals in the first half. Andyn Maldonado got things started with a 12
th-minute goal off an assist by Jonathan Guglielmetti.
Dominic Gusman was outstanding for the Pirates, finishing with a hat trick and an assist to go with four shots, three on goal. Gusman notched back-to-back goals in the 19
th and 25
th minutes. The second goal was assisted by Jacob Janzen. Gusman then assisted on Beckett Arthur's goal in the 60
th before scoring his third goal of the match, unassisted, in the 68
th.
Arthur turned in an impressive performance alongside Gusman, finishing with two goals on four shots and three shots on goal. Arthur's second goal was the final insurance strike for the Pirates, a penalty kick goal in the 85
th.

Ronan Krutzikowsky scored the Wildcats' lone goal in the 47
th, assisted by junior forward
Cesar Cruz-Espindola. Krutzikowsky finished with three shots and two shots on goal while Cruz-Espindola led the team with four shots in 82 minutes. Freshman

Peyton Frazier shared goalkeeping duties. Frazier took the loss after playing the first half. Both goalkeepers made four saves.

Linfield drops to 1-5-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in conference play. The 'Cats will return home to host George Fox on Saturday before playing at Pacific on Sunday.
LINFIELD COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
All individuals (age 12 and over) entering any athletics venue must provide proof of vaccination along with photo identification. Since all Linfield faculty, staff and students have completed this task in order to be on campus this fall, the Linfield individual must simply show their current Linfield ID.
Masks must be worn by all spectators at all times. Participants, including players, coaches, support staff and media on the sidelines, must wear masks throughout the duration of all athletic events, both indoor and outdoor, and during pregame and postgame activities.
