Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Strong second half leads 'Yotes over Wildcats

Linfield got off to a hot start in front of its home crowd, but The College of Idaho stormed back with three unanswered goals in the second half to down the Wildcats, 4-2, in an exhibition match on Sunday in McMinnville.

The Wildcats wasted no time getting on the board as freshman midfielder Seamus Miller found the upper right corner of the net in the eighth minute.

The 'Yotes responded less than two minutes later when Kristian Quiros scored on a free kick in the 10th minute.

Linfield took back the lead in the 20th when junior forward Cesar Cruz-Espindola found an opening down the middle of the field and fired in the Wildcats' second goal of the afternoon to give them the lead going into halftime.

The 'Yotes took over the game in the second half. Caio Pereira scored back-to-back goals in the 66th and 67th minutes, both unassisted. Ben Garrick followed with another insurance goal in the 82nd.

The 'Yotes outshot the 'Cats 36-4 with 22 shots on goal. The Linfield goalkeepers, junior Julian Inches and sophomore Peyton Frazier, combined for 18 saves in the loss.

Up next, the 'Cats will continue a four-match homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 1, as they host NAIA neighbor Warner Pacific at 7 p.m.
