Wildcats score 16 in game one to split the Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Scoring the first four runs of the game and the last 12, the Linfield Wildcats won the first game of the doubleheader over the Pacific Boxers by a score of 16-7. The Boxers took game two by a score of 7-2 at Chuck Bufaro Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
 
GAME 1: Linfield 4, Pacific 1
Linfield had the bases juiced and scored the first run of the game on a base hit by Levi Horner-Villa that scored Wyatt Smith, who led the game off with a single.
 
With the bases still loaded with no outs, Tanner Earhart plated two on a single to center field to make it 3-0 with no outs. Scoring on the hit by Earhart were Jackson Horner, who hit a single and Mike LaVigne, who got hit by a pitch.   
 
Horner-Villa scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Kamp in the top of the first. Chase Anderson led off the bottom of the first with a home run to right field.
 
The Boxers added another run in the second on an RBI groundout by Reyn Okita that scored Tyler Quinn. Anderson hit another solo home run in the bottom of the third to make it 4-3.
 
Isaac Lovings tied the game on a solo home run in the fourth. The inning continued for the Boxers, who had runners on second and third with two outs and took the lead on a three-run home run by Ryan Krout.
 
The Wildcats' fifth run of the game came with the bases loaded in the fifth when Horner was hit by a pitch, scoring on the play was Garrett Moen, who replaced for Kamp earlier in the inning and drew a walk.
 
LaVigne cleared the bases on a single, scoring on the play were Horner, Smith, who got on base via a hit by pitch as did Danny Kahn, who pinch hit for Joner and scored on the single by LaVigne. Earhart hit a single to center field that plated LaVigne and gave the Wildcats a 9-7 lead.
 
Cameron Skinner extended the Wildcats lead to 11-7 in the seventh with a two-run home run. In the inning, Smith hit a triple and came around to score on a single by LaVigne.
 
Kahn brought home Earhart in the eighth to make it 13-7 and he came around to score on a single by Skinner, who scored on an RBI double by Smith. Earhart brought home Horner-Villa once again in the ninth and made it 16-7.
 
Earhart had four hits and four RBIs in the game. Smith had three hits as did Horner-Villa. LaVigne had two hits and also had four RBIs. Horner and Skinner had multi-hit games as well.
 
The starter for the Wildcats was Grant Knox, who gave up seven earned runs in four innings and got a no-decision. Callan McRae did not allow a run in 3.2 innings of work and collected two strikeouts, he got the win. Sam Adams pitched a shutout 1.1 innings to close it out.
 
The Boxers used seven pitchers in the game. Derek Eubanks was the starter, he gave up four earned runs and also got a no-decision. The losing pitcher in game one was Liam Camall, who allowed three runs in 0.2 innings.
 
Krout had three RBIs for the Boxers. Anderson had three hits.
 
GAME 2: Pacific 7, Linfield 2
Anderson led off game two in the bottom of the first and scored on a double by Krout, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Hara. The Boxers added their third run in the inning on a wild pitch by Evan Bates, who came in relief of the starter Cameron Skinner. Brandon Silowka scored on the wild pitch.  
 
Pacific made it 4-0 when Krout scored on a throwing error by Linfield in second. Tanner Johnson drove in Hara in the second to push the Boxers lead to 5-0.
 
Linfield scored its first runs of the game in the third on an RBI double by Horner-Villa that plated LaVigne. Pacific added two in the sixth, first on an RBI triple by Anderson and then another on a single by Krout.
 
The Wildcats added their second run of the game in the seventh on a fielder's choice hit by Kahn that scored Bodey Smith.
 
In game two, LaVigne had two hits. Anderson and Krout had multi-hit games for the Boxers.
 
Linfield went with a bullpen game and started Skinner. He gave up three runs in 0.2 innings and got the loss. Evan Bates tossed 3.1 innings, giving up two runs, but none earned. Colton Meyer punched out two in an inning and Skyler Manelski gave up a run in the sixth.
 
Brian Kraft got the start for the Boxers and got credited with the win. He gave up one earned run in four innings and had four strikeouts.
 
The Wildcats are now 6-20 and 4-14 in the Northwest Conference. The Boxers are 23-9 and 18-6 in the NWC.

Linfield is back home next weekend on April 24-25 against Willamette. Fans are allowed on invite-only basis.
