Horner-Villa homers in loss to the Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Levi Horner-Villa's three-run home run in the top of the seventh in game two was not enough for the Linfield Wildcats, who lost both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday at Chuck Bufaro Stadium to the Pacific Boxers by scores of 7-0 and 5-4, respectively.
 
GAME 1: Pacific 7, Linfield 0
The Boxers scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI groundout by Isaac Lovings that scored Tyler Quinn. Pacific added two more in the fifth, first was an RBI groundout by Tanner Johnson that plated Ian Blair and the second run was scored by Jordan Hara on a wild pitch.
 
In the seventh, Blair hit an RBI double as did Hara to make it 5-0. Johnson followed with an RBI base hit to make it 6-0. Chase Anderson hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth that scored Max Nealon.
 
Linfield had just two hits in game, one by Mike LaVigne and the other by Ryan Kamp. For the Boxers, Hara and Johnson had multi-hit games.
 
Andrew Del Biaggio collected the loss for the Wildcats. He started the game and went 5.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Logan Travis tossed the eighth inning and gave up an unearned run and picked up two strikeouts.
 
The winning pitcher in game one was Will Clark, who went seven innings, giving up no runs on two hits, three walks and fanned four Wildcats. Liam Camall pitched two shutout innings for the Boxers.
 
GAME 2: Pacific 5, Linfield 4
Brandon Silowka hit a triple in the bottom of the second to score Quinn. Silowka scored on a sacrifice fly by Reyn Okita. Blair hit a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 3-0 in favor of Pacific.
 
Brad Altomare collected the last two RBIs for the Boxers. In the fourth, he reached on an error, scoring on the play was Johnson. In the fifth, he hit a groundout that once again scored Johnson.
 
The Wildcats started a rally in the top of the seventh of the seven-inning game with the first two batters reaching on base. Garrett Moen reached on a hit by pitch and moved to third on a single by Jackson Horner.
 
Moen scored on a single by LaVigne, who along with Horner scored on the home run by Horner-Villa. The Wildcats were down by one with no outs in the inning, but could not get the game-tying run on base.
 
Horner had three hits in game two including a double. Horner-Villa hit a double and a home run.
 
Gage Mack lasted just 3.2 innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits, no walks and punched out four. Skyler Manelski tossed 1.1 perfect innings, striking out two and Cody Stevenson gave up a run in the sixth.
 
Kahi Bisho gave up no runs in 4.2 innings of work for the Boxers and got the win. Davis Koester gave up four earned runs, but collected the save.
 
Linfield is now 5-19 on the season and 3-13 in the Northwest Conference, while Pacific is 22-8 overall and 17-5 in the conference.
 
UP NEXT
The series between the two teams wraps up on Sunday afternoon with the doubleheader slated to start at 12 noon.
