NEWBERG, Ore. – Shasta Lofgren scored nearly half of the points for the Linfield Wildcats in their 70-56 loss at the hand of the George Fox Bruins at Wheeler Sports Center on Saturday.
Lofgren had 25 points and 11 rebounds in the game, she had 14 in the first half. The senior guard from Chehalis, Washington, went 6 for 8 from beyond-the-arc.
Jordyn Feinauer was second on the team with nine points, she also had four assists.
The Bruins led 24-7 after the first quarter and despite the Wildcats outscoring in them in the second and fourth quarters, the Bruins cruised to their fifth win of the season. Mackenzie Lewis had 13 points for George Fox, Rebecca Walsh hit three 3-pointers off the bench and had 11 points.
Jenna Lacey had seven rebounds and Cassidy Posey had eight. Lewis, Lacey, Posey, and Jaela Eggers had three assists each. The Bruins restricted the Wildcats to shoot 30.6 percent from the field.
For the Wildcats,
Alexis Heald scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds,
Delaney Ragan grabbed five rebounds. Off the bench,
Maggie Smith had eight points and
Peyton Bergevin had five.
Brooke Landis had three assists.
The closest the Wildcats got to within the Bruins after the first quarter was at the 8:50 mark in the third quarter when a 3-pointer by Lofgren cut it to 41-34.
Linfield has lost three straight and now holds an overall record of 1-7 this spring, it is 1-5 in Northwest Conference games and has lost its 27
th straight meeting to George Fox, who is 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the Northwest Conference.

The Wildcats are the odd-team out next week among the three conference schools in Oregon that opted to play basketball this spring. Linfield hosts Bushnell for a non-conference game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and travels to Corban on Thursday at 7 p.m.
