Kelley, Podnar hold Pacific without a run

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Tayah Kelley pitched a five-inning no-hitter, helping the Linfield Wildcats complete a four-game sweep of the Pacific Boxers on Sunday at Sherman/Larkins Stadium.

Linfield, ranked No. 3 in the most recent NFCA Top 25 poll, upped its season record to 15-1 and 4-0 in the Northwest Conference. Pacific fell to 5-9 and 0-4 in league play with all four losses coming at the hands of the Wildcats.

Kelley and Game 1 starter Maddy Podnar held Pacific to a combined three hits on the day.

GAME 1: Linfield 8, Pacific 0, 5 innings
Podnar spun a complete-game shutout, and Kelsey Wilkinson and Emma Podliska swatted home runs, carrying the Wildcat to the win in day's first game.

Podliska went 3 for 3 at the plate and drove three runs, including her third home run of the season. Wilkinson was 2 for 4 with three RBIs, hitting her eighth career home run and second of the season in the second inning.

Podnar raised her season record to 6-1. She confined the Boxers to three hits while striking out five batters.

GAME 2: Linfield 13, Pacific 0, 5 innings
Kelley logged her first career no-hitter and first by a Wildcat since Montana McNealy blanked Whitworth on April 11, 2015. She struck out six Boxers and didn't concede a walk in abbreviated game, shortened to five innings by the eight-run rule.

Baily Paul pounded a double and a triple and scored two runs to lead a 12-hit onslaught by the 'Cats at the plate. Katie Phillips went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kamryn Apling contributed a pair of base hits and a stolen base.

Pacific was charged with five errors in the contest while the Wildcats were mistake-free defensively.
