WHY LINFIELD? I chose Linfield because I wanted to be a nurse and play softball. Linfield was one of the only schools that allowed me to do both.

WHAT DOES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE MEAN TO YOU? It means that I hold myself to a high standard. I want to set a good example for everyone younger than me and show everyone that even though being a student-athlete is hard, you can do it.

WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? My story is interesting because I do not live at the McMinnville campus because I am a nursing major. I commute back and forth from Portland to McMinnville for practices and games while working around my nursing schedule. I am unable to go to most practices but use my small amount of off time to work out or get softball workouts in so I can be ready for games on the weekends.

WHATS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? My career focus is on pediatrics and as a student-nurse I am able to do clinical rotations in various places so I am able to get experience working in different environments before I graduate.

WHAT IS THE BEST CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN AT LINFIELD? My favorite class I’ve taken at Linfield would have to be Acute Conditions. I completed this class my junior year at the Portland campus, it was the first time I felt like I was taking a huge step towards my nursing career and I was able to apply the nursing knowledge from this class into my nursing practice at Providence St. Vincents. Some really strong runner-ups were complementary healing methods, anatomy, and microbiology!

WHEN NOT COMPETING IN SPORTS OR STUDYING FOR SCHOOL, I LIKE TO SPEND MY FREE TIME…Outdoors at the pool or riding four wheelers on our property, golfing and working out at the gym.

THE GREATEST LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN…Do not take anything for granted. I unfortunately had my senior year of softball taken away and I did not think that I was ever going to be able to step onto that field and play again. I am very excited to come back and play while in the grad program but I will not take this season lightly because you never know when your last day could be.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR LINFIELD CAREER THUS FAR? The highlight of my career was hosting the super regionals in 2019. The crowds were so energetic and it was amazing to have everybody there supporting us. Both teams played incredibly well and I would give anything to go back to that weekend. I also loved the Pacific series we had in 2020 because it was our only home series of the 2020 season and we came out strong, played some good softball and swept them.
