Heald has career night in overtime loss to Tigers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Four quarters wasn't enough as the Linfield women's basketball team went to overtime with Colorado College Saturday afternoon, losing 82-70 to the Tigers at Pacific University's Stoller Center. 
 
The Tigers went up 19-15 after the first quarter, but the Wildcats clawed their way back to take a 38-30 lead going into halftime. The 'Cats had a 14-point lead at the 7:41 mark in the third quarter, but the Tigers evened the score to force overtime. The Tigers shut out the 'Cats 12-0 in overtime to seal the deal.
 
Four Colorado College players scored in double digits. The Tigers shot 49.2 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from three-point range and 58.3 percent from the free throw line. The Tigers scored 46 points in the paint, 31 points off the bench and 33 points off 24 Linfield turnovers.
 
Anna Fanelli led the Tigers with a double-double of 16 points and 11 assists. She connected on 5 of 10 from the field and 6 of 10 from the free throw line. Rosie Braley finished with 15 points on 7 of 10 shooting while Tedy Reed (14) and Laura Strenk (12) also scored in double digits.
 
Linfield scored 32 points in the paint and got 28 points from the bench in the loss. Junior forward Alexis Heald scored a career-high, doubling her season high with 18 points on 7 of 11 from the field in 33 minutes. She also had five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
 
Freshman forward Elyse Waldal continues her hot streak with her fourth straight game in double figures. She put up 16 points on 6 of 14 from the field with four three-pointers. The freshman sensation also had six rebounds, two assists and a block. Fellow freshman forward Gillyan Landis just missed double digits with nine points while senior guard Ti'Anna Bruce had eight points.
 
NEXT
The Wildcats (0-7) will open conference play at Puget Sound on Dec. 3. Their home opener is on Dec. 4 against Lewis & Clark.
