'Cats still looking for first NWC win after 2-2 tie with Boxers

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield men's soccer team took the lead before halftime, but Pacific scored early in the second half to force a 2-2 tie after double overtime on Saturday afternoon at the Linfield University Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
 
The Boxers got on the board first in the 32nd minute as Brodie Buchert scored his third goal of the season on a penalty kick.
 
The Wildcats punched back in the 35th minute as freshman midfielder Sid Kosaris scored his first goal of the season, unassisted. The ball was bouncing around in the box and Kosaris was there to put it away. Fellow freshman midfielder Seamus Miller scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 37th to give the 'Cats the lead.
 
Aidan Heflin scored the equalizer for the Boxers in the 48th off an assist by Tait Kuchenbrod. Heflin picked up the ball on the left side of the box and fired it into the right side of the net.
 
It was an aggressive match from the beginning. Linfield put up 21 shots and eight shots on goal, including seven in the two overtime periods. Pacific finished with 11 shots, five on goal. The 'Cats totaled 11 corner kicks to the Boxers' four. The two teams combined for 35 fouls with the 'Cats finishing with 24.
 
Miller fired off a career-high 10 shots with four shots on goal in 82 minutes while Kosaris had two shots in 90 minutes. Junior forward Connor Heintz had four shots and one shot on goal. Heintz was one of six 'Cats who played the full 110 minutes. Sophomore Peyton Frazier played the entire match in goal, making three saves.
 
NEXT
Linfield is now 1-11-2 overall with a 0-8-2 Northwest Conference mark. The 'Cats will hit the road on Sunday, playing at George Fox at 2:30 p.m.
