SPOKANE, Wash. – The Linfield women's soccer team was looking to go back-to-back following Saturday's win at Whitman, but the Wildcats took a 2-0 loss at Whitworth on Sunday afternoon at the Whitworth University Soccer Field.

Whitworth scored in both the opening and closing moments of the match. Senior Gabriella Coprivnicar scored her fifth goal of the season just 11 seconds in to give the Pirates an early lead. She stole the ball at the start of the match and fired it into the corner of the net.

Junior Maggie Ames notched the second goal for the Pirates in the 89
th minute, unassisted. The ball bounced off the crossbar and Ames was there to send it home. Ames and Coprivnicar finished with two shots apiece.

Whitworth outshot Linfield 18-4 with three shots on goal. The 'Cats had four shots and one shot on goal by junior forward
Laney Green, who led the team with three shots in 56 minutes. Sophomore defender
Raylynn Bucher registered the other shot.

Linfield dropped to 2-8-2 overall and 1-6-1 in Northwest Conference play with the loss. The 'Cats begin the second half of conference play next week, playing at Willamette on Saturday and at Lewis & Clark on Sunday.
