Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wildcats roll over the Pioneers

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Coming into the game having their last two, the Linfield Wildcats defeated the Lewis & Clark Pioneers, 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Taylor Cole and Ashley Guldager scored their first goals of the season and Kristen Burke added her third of 2019.

The Wildcats are now 2-2 in the Northwest Conference, while the Pioneers fall to 2-2. Both teams are tied for fourth in the standings.

Neither team had a shot through the first 15 minutes of the game, Lewis & Clark had one shot that was from outside the box and way wide.

The Wildcats converted on their first scoring opportunity when a cross by Makenna Blix was dropped by the Pioneers' goalkeeper and Burke was there to clear it up.

It was the fourth assist of the season for Blix, which leads the team and the third goal of the season for Burke.

It did not take long for Linfield to pad to its lead, as Guldager scored her second career goal just three minutes after the Burke goal. It was an Olympic goal off the corner for Guldager.

Cole scored her first goal of the season as the lone goal in the second half. It was deflected to her by the Pioneers and she cleared it past the goalkeeper.

It was the first goal for Cole since August 2018 and for Guldager it was her first since September 2018.

Goalkeeper Madi Reimer, who has been battling injuries all season was a late scratch, Alyssa Bakkensen made her season debut in goal, saving four shots.

The Wildcats outshot the Pioneers 13-10 and had the edge at the corner spot, 6-4.

Linfield is 2-1 at home in conference games in 2019, with the 4-1 win over Pacific earlier in the month.

Linfield now leads the all-time head to head 23-4-5, including winning the last seven over Lewis & Clark.
