MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The trio of
Olivia McDaniel,
Meg Angier and
Emma Barker finished 1-2-14 in the pole to lead the way in the Linfield Wildcats' final home meet of the season. The Linfield Open was held at Maxwell Field under perfect weather conditions of sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s.
NCAA Division III leader McDaniel won the competition with a clearance of 12-9½ (3.90m). followed by Angier with her lifetime-best of 12-3½ (3.75m). Barker cleared 9-10 (3.0m) to claim 14th. Angier climbed to No. 4 on the Linfield track & field all-time top-10 list and is currently tied with the 18th best mark in Division III. Wildcats coach
Travis Olson said that Angier's mark should qualify her for the NCAA Championships later this month in Ohio.
Women
Ashley Ambrose and
Kelly Roth finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in their heat of the 1500m. Ambrose crossed the line in 5:20.05 and Roth in 5:21.18.
Kelsey Kuhns picked up a 10th-place finish in the 5000m with her time of 20:28.42.
Anne Ferguson ran a personal best of 1:03.68 in the 400m.
Tiffany Wall took fourth in the high jump with her mark of 5-2¼ (1.58m) and
Mehana Sabado-Halpern leapt 34-6½ (10.52m) to claim fifth in the triple jump.
Sara Miles tossed 39-10¼ (12.16m) to secure sixth place in the shot put.
Men
Matt Metcalf garnered the best finish for the men with his toss of 185-9 (56.62m) in the javelin, good for third place.
Grant Jackson notched a best of 101-6 (30.93m) in the hammer.
Cody Mitchell was fifth in the shot with his effort of 46-6 (14.17m).
Keaton Wood competed in two events, tossing the shot 35-1¼ (10.70m) and then reaching 111-1 (33.85m) in the discus.
Max Lommen cleared 6-0½ (1.82m) to finish seventh in the high jump.
Ronan Krutzikowsky had a clearance of 13-7¼ (4.15m) in the pole vault, then returned to run 2:09.55 in the 800m.
Dallin Buck achieved his best leap on his first attempt in the long jump, going 21-6 (6.55m) to garner a sixth-place finish.
