McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Looking to close out the first half of the regular season with a win the Wildcats hosted the Puget Sound Loggers at Maxwell Field at 6:00 p.m. Despite starting from behind the 'Cats were able to have a strong second half and collect the win with a 14-8 score.
FIRST HALF
Puget Sound got on the board first scoring within the first four minutes of the game.
Bethany Shade tied it up for the Wildcats not even 30 seconds later. The Loggers answered with a goal, but
Gabriella Moe responded for Linfield. Puget Sound went on to score back-to-back goals before Shade found the back of the net for her second goal of the game. The Loggers were not going away though as they scored two more goals and lead the Wildcats 6-3.
Jenna Hessel and
Alex Jensen each picked up goals for the Wildcats and cut the Loggers lead to one goal. Puget Sound would grab one more goal before the half, but Shade managed to keep the 'Cats within one as she scored her third goal of the game.
SECOND HALF
Linfield managed to carry their momentum from the end of the first half into the second as they scored six straight goals and took the lead from the Loggers.
Josie Duey accounted for two of them while
Maia Rezoski and Bathany Shade also were able to find the back of the net for the Wildcats. Puget Sound managed to sneak a goal in with 16 minutes left to play in the game but would not score another goal in the contest.
Josie Duey however, added two more goals to her total and solidified the game for the Wildcats. Linfield's goalies totaled eight saves in the win and
Epi Roldan-Rayo only allowed one goal in the second half.
