FOREST GROVE, ORE. – Coming off of a conference win over Willamette on Sunday, March 30
th the Wildcats traveled to Pacific for a midweek Northwest Conference match up. Linfield comes out of the game moving to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play as they take down Pacific 19-4.
FIRST HALF
Linfield started out on top as they scored the first three goals of the game.
Madison Hicks scored the first goal for the 'Cats;
Jenna Hessel and
Molly Herrera followed closely behind with goals two and three. Hessel extended the Wildcats lead to 4-0 as she picked up her second goal of the game with 15 minutes left to play. The Boxers responded though scoring their first goal of the game and making the score 4-1.
Gabriella Moe extended the Wildcats lead as she scored on a free position goal. Pacific responded with a goal of their own and put the Wildcats lead back to four goals. Linfield tacked on fourth more goals as
Nathaly Sanchez, Hessel (2), and
Bethany Shade each scored.
Kylee Duey recorded four saves on six shots on goal in the first half of play. Linfield managed to produce 19 shots, 15 of them being on goal.
SECOND HALF
The 'Cats picked up where they left off as Shade picked up two goals to start the half and extend the Wildcats lead.
Maia Rezoski and
Josie Duey got into the scoring party as they scored back-to-back goals to extend Linfield's lead to 14-2. Sanchez grabbed her second goal of the game which increased the Wildcats lead to 13 and forced a Pacific timeout. Shade recorded her fifth and six goals of the game as the Wildcats continued to increase their lead. The Boxers scored their first goal of the game with 11:40 left to play and cut Linfield's lead to 14. Finding the back of the net for the seventh time today Shade grabbed the 'Cats 18
th goal. Pacific's Roya Tahamassebi picked up her fourth goal of the game as she has had all of the Boxers goals.
Josie Duey scored the last goal of the game for the Wildcats as the picked up the win with a score of 19-4.
