NWC Softball Tournament 2019

Linfield to host NWC Tournament

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

An NCAA Division III regional playoff berth is on the line at Del Smith Stadium where the top four Northwest Conference teams from the regular season will meet in a double elimination tournament, Friday-Sunday, April 26-28.
 
Regular-season champion Linfield is hosting the NWC Tournament for the first time since 2014. Whitworth, Pacific and George Fox have also qualified.
 
TICKETS
As this is a Northwest Conference event, spectators will be charged admission:
Adult Day Pass $8
Seniors, Youth (12 and under) and Military $3
Students with school ID are admitted free
NWC passes are accepted

Darian Stedman
LINFIELD WILDCATS (32-6-1, 25-3 NWC)
•Linfield achieved the program's 16th consecutive season of at least 30 wins.
•The Wildcats won their second straight conference title and NWC-record 14th league championship overall.
•Senior OF Darian Stedman leads the NWC with 18 doubles while ranking seventh in NCAA Division III.
•Senior RHP Shelby Saylors became the program's winningest pitcher. The senior righthander has 76 career victories while also owning Linfield records for innings pitched (603.2), complete games (65).
•Senior RHP Tanna Benson came on strong this spring, compiling a 14-2 win-loss record. Her 2.32 ERA ranks second in the NWC.
•Linfield's 1.54 home runs per game ranks second nationally.

Drea Schwaier-Wolf
WHITWORTH PIRATES (29-9, 23-5 NWC)
•Whitworth set school records this spring for runs scored (244) and double plays turned (19) in 2019.
•The Pirates won 15 games in a row from Feb. 10 through March 25.
Drea Schwaier-Wolf has more pitching victories (16) and strikeouts (60) than any first-year player in Whitworth history. Her ERA is also the best among any freshman with at least five starts.
Michelle Silva holds Pirate career records for hits, triples and runs scored and is within reach of setting records for RBIs and doubles.

•Sophomore utility Montana Vaught is one of the top hitters in the nation (14th in total bases (94); 15th in home runs(10); 19th in RBIs (41); 21st in doubles (15); 33rd in
slugging percentage (.817).
•Sophomore outfielder Nicole Martinez is 12th in the nation in hits (56). She has a team-best 19 multi-hit games.
•Vaught and Hailey Miller each have had a 10-game hitting streak in 2019. Vaught and Kaitlynn Donaca have each had a streak of at least 20 games reaching base.
•The Boxers are hitting .337 as a team on the season,
including 350 against Northwest Conference teams.
•Junior pitcher Morgan Masters leads Pacific with eight wins, 19 appearances, six complete games, two shutouts, 50 strikeouts in 80.1 innings of work.

•GFU leads all NWC teams in home runs (63), extra-base hits (146), slugging percentage (.606), and walks (161).
Alyssa Gonzalez and Aaliyah Kautz have been two of the Bruins' most reliable hitters down the home stretch.
•Gonzalez leads the Bruins in batting average (.413), on-base percentage (.529), and has reached base safely in each of her last 10 games of the regular season.
Savannah Vargas and Roni Braun lead all NWC players with 11 home runs this season.
Winter Ridgeway tops the Bruins in innings (91.1),
strikeouts (62), ERA (4.22), complete games (4), and saves (2) this season.
