MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – On a cold and rainy-day the Linfield Wildcats continue to stay hot as they take down the Pirates of Whitworth on Sunday, April 14
th at Maxwell Field. Linfield out-scored Whitworth 21-9.
FIRST HALF
Linfield started out on top as
Jenna Hessel found the back of the net within the first minute of play. The Pirates tied it up six minutes later, but the Wildcats came back with eight straight goals.
Bethany Shade,
Josie Duey, and
Maia Rezoski each had two goals in that stint. Whitworth grabbed their second goal of the game with 13 minutes left to play in the first half.
Gabriella Moe started a scoring chain of five-straight goals for the Wildcats as they took a 14-2 lead. Linfield tacked on one more before the half was over.
SECOND HALF
The Pirates started out the half with three straight goals, until
Josie Duey broke up their run as she found the back of the net. Whitworth answered with a goal of their own shortly after. Linfield and Whitworth traded goals for a few goals. With 14 minutes left to play Shade and Duey each found the back of the net to increase the Wildcats lead to 19-8. The Pirates would add one more goal in the game, but the 'Cats added two more of their own.
