Linfield battles for the win at Whitman

Box Score WALLA WALLA, WASH. – Looking to keep their momentum from last weekend's match the 'Cats traveled to Eastern Washington to take on Whitman who was voted to take second place in the NWC pre-season poll. The 'Cats and Blues kept their streak of having close matches, however the Wildcats were able grab the win with a 5-4 score.

Coach Macy-Baker's Thoughts
"A couple themes ring true of this all-around team victory," said head coach Lisa Macy-Baker. "The work and energy this team puts in every day; each and every player. It's never easy and the challenge is why we do it."

"Doubles set the tone. Then each and every player, on and off the court, battled in singles. Team matches don't get much closer. It came down to the final match Michelle Ly battled back from 3-0 down in the 3rd set. She demonstrated grit, the will even when she was up against it and incredible focus."

Linfield started the match on top as they took two of the three doubles matches. Number two doubles team of Riley Clayeux and Haley Fujimori took their match 8-4 and the duo of Michelle Ly and Alysse Nakasato grabbed an 8-6 win for the Wildcats.

Michelle Uyeda grabs her fourth straight singles win at the number one position as she took down Gu 6-1, 6-1. Fiujimoi and Ly both produced huge wins for Linfield at the number five and six positions. Haley managed a 6-2, 6-2 win while Michelle battled from behind to take down Pak 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 win.
