'Cats lose two in Tacoma

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TACOMA, WASH. – Linfield dropped its ninth-straight game by way of a series loss to the Puget Sound Loggers at Logger Baseball Field. The 'Cats lost a pair of Northwest Conference baseball games by scores of 4-3 and 14-2 in Tacoma. Linfield drops to 4-19 overall and 2-15 in conference play. The Loggers improve 8-18 and 7-7 in NWC games.
 
GAME 1
  • Scoreless through the first two innings, the Wildcats took the lead on a two RBI single from Wyatt Smith who brought in Cameron Fox and Tanner Earhart on a single to make it 2-0, Linfield in the third.
  • Levi Horner-Villa added to the Linfield lead with a solo homer in the following frame. The homer extended the Linfield lead to 3-0.
  • The 'Cats slipped in the sixth and allowed four runs. A pass ball allowed one run to score. Later, Jack Greis singled to center and scored two to give the Loggers a 4-3 lead.
  • Linfield rallied late but couldn't force extra innings in the first game against the Loggers. Puget Sound took the first game of the series 4-3.
  • Cason Cunningham started on the mound and allowed four runs on three hits and struck out eight.
  • Matt McDonald threw the last three innings where he gave up just one hit and struck out two.
GAME 2
  • Puget Sound scored its first runs in the third and went on to lead by a score of 12-0 through the first six innings.
  • Linfield scored on a bases loaded walk and an RBI single from Tanner Earhart in the second to make it 12-2. The Loggers added to their lead with two more runs in the seventh for an eventual 14-2 win over Linfield.
  • Colton Meyer started on the mound for Linfield. He struck out one over four innings and allowed six runs on eight hits. Dakota Carter, Mitch Grove and Brendan O'Brien were all used in the loss.
