CHICAGO, ILL. -- The 'Cats started out their Midwest spring break at the University of Chicago on Sunday, March 24
th. Linfield coming off of a huge win over conference opponent Whitworth was hoping to keep that momentum into Illinois. Unfortunately, the 'Cats fell to the Maroons 22-6 in Chicago.
First Half
Chicago started out on top scoring within the first three minutes of the match up. Then followed it up with a goal just two minutes later to take an early 2-0 lead over the 'Cats.
Maia Rezoski scored the Wildcats first goal of the game and cut the Maroons lead in half. The Maroons scored three-straight goals before the Wildcats'
Bethany Shade could grab a goal for Linfield.
Gabriella Moe picked up a goal on the free position attempt to give the Wildcats four points to the Maroons five. Chicago managed to score the next eight goals of the game before
Josie Duey took a pass from
Nathaly Sanchez and found the back of the net. Heading into halftime the 'Cats trailed 5-16 to the Maroons.
Second Half
The Maroons picked up where they left off scoring the opening goal of the second half and then adding a second one shortly after. Chicago would add two more goals in the half before the Wildcats would be forced to call a timeout to try and stop the Maroons momentum. The Maroons would grab their sixth goal of the second half before
Bethany Shade found the back of the next for her third goal of the game and the Wildcats' first goal of the second half. Chicago would score one more time before the game came to a close.
