PORTLAND, Ore. – In a meeting of two teams in the top half of the Northwest Conference standings, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers sailed past the Linfield Wildcats, 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Rose City.
Alyssa Bakkensen started in goal for the Wildcats and made two saves, this was just her second start of the season replacing the injured
Madi Reimer.
The Pioneers took the lead early in the first half, scoring with less than three minutes into the game and they added three goals in the second half to win this one.
Linfield had plenty of opportunities to score with eight shots on goal, including three by
Makenna Blix and two by
Michayla Sponsel , but the Pioneers were able to preserve the shutout.
The Wildcats fall to 6-5-1 in conference play while the Pioneers are 5-6-1, the two teams are fourth and fifth in the NWC standings respectively.
