WHITTIER, Calif. – Saturday nights proved to be a well fought match for the Linfield and Whitter as the two were almost identical in all stats expects shots. Although Linfield might not have gotten off as many shots as they would have liked, the 'Cats was still able to take down the Fighting Poets.
Linfield got on the board first in the 25
th minute when
Chase Whittaker score on a penalty kick. The 'Cats continued to put pressure on the Poets goalie and it paid off for them in the 43
rd minute as Whittier's goalie own goaled himself allowing Linfield to go ahead 2-0.
The Poets came out eager and aggressive to start the second half, as they were able to get three shots off in a row.
Nick Van Kleek was able to deflect the first two but the third one snuck through for Parker McDonald to cut the Wildcats lead in half.
The 'Cats were able to remain in control the rest of the game and get their first win of the season.
