Linfield totals five goals in win over Warner Pacific

 
McMINNVILLE, Ore. – A bright start for the Wildcats as they took down the Knights of Warner Pacific 5-0 in their season opener.
 
 Sydney Kuehn scored on a beautiful pass by Michayla Sponsel within the first twenty seconds of the match. It wouldn't stop there for the 'Cats though in the 27th minute Taylor Cole picked up a lose ball and sent it at the goal only to be reflected off of a Warner Pacific goal and into the back of the net for the Wildcats to lead 2-0.
 
As play went on Linfield would continue to add to their lead. In the 35th minute Amidee Colleknon received the ball from a throw in and takes it to the goal sending the ball straight through the goalie's legs into the back-left corner of the net.  Four minutes later Colleknon would pick up her second goal of the match off of an assist by Lexi Kerr.
 
At halftime the Wildcats were out shooting the Knights 20 to zero with six shots on goal.
 
Heading into the second half Linfield had made some substitutions but the pressure did not stop. In the 48th minute Lexi Kerr picked up her first goal of the season off of a pass by Anna Peckham to extend the Wildcats lead to 5-0.
 
The Wildcats ended the game with 29 shots, 16 of those being on goal to the Knights three shots and one on goal.  Madi Riemer picked up her first win of the season and had the only save of the match for Linfield.
 
Next
The Wildcats are back in actions tomorrow, September 1st at noon as they host Northwest University.
