PASADENA, CALIFORNIA – Despite 19 shots and 11 on target, the Linfield Wildcats Men's soccer team fell to the Caltech Beavers 1-0 at North Field in Pasadena, California. Beaver forward Charles Thut delivered the game-winning goal for Caltech in the 58
th minute for the eventual one-goal difference.
One of the 'Cats best scoring opportunities came in the 78
th minute when
Ryan Kister had his shot attempt deflect off the post. Just before the final horn, another strong chance from
Henry Rosenfeld's header was denied by Shim in the 89
th minute.
Seven Wildcats put shots on goal including two from
Shoma Okita,
Ryan Kister and Rosenfeld.
Cameron Perron made three saves for the 'Cats and allowed the lone goal to find the back of the net.
Linfield kept a steady attack but failed to beat the Beaver defense. Caltech goal-keeper Richard Shim made 11 saves in the regular season opener for both squads.
The loss drops Linfield to 0-1 while Caltech starts the season 1-0.
