REDLANDS, CALIF. – The Wildcats opened up the 2018 season in California at the Redlands Tipoff Classic. Linfield took on the Bulldogs of Redlands in the first game of the classic.
'Cat stats
Molly Danielson hit 10 of 20 shots and led Linfield in scoring with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Kory Oleson and
Cassidy Schutz each delivered 11 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats.
Bulldogs box score
The Bulldogs were led by Cassandra Lacey who made 14 of 26 shots and was 3 of 3 at the free throw line on her way to game-high scoring honors of 31 points. Alyssa Downs added 22 points for Redlands as she was 8 for 19 from the field.
The Wildcats were able to keep the rest of the Bulldogs squad to 23 points spread between five different players. Redlands was eight for nine from the free throw line and eight of 15 from behind the arc.
1st Half
Starting the game's first point – a Lacey free throw, the Bulldogs held the lead 14-10 heading into the second quarter. Redlands extended their lead as they headed into half time with a score of 27-36.
2nd Half
The Bulldogs scored first in the second half and continued to roll from there, to take a 38-30 advantage. A three pointer by
Jordyn Feinauer kept the Wildcats within striking distance in the third quarter to make the score 33-42. Heading into the fourth quarter Redlands increased their lead to 17. Linfield went on a six-point run late in the fourth quarter off of points by Oleson and Danielson.
