SPOKANE, WASH. – Linfield came out ready as the took down Whitworth in Spokane for the first time since 2003.
The Wildcats got on the board first in the 25
th minute when Gerardo Perez was able to find the back of the net off of a pass from
Isaias Flores. Whitworth would tie it up in the 29
th minute when Aaron Yanagi headed in the rebounded save by
Cameron Perron. Linfield and Whitworth ended the first half 1-1.
In the 69
th minute
Connor Heintz put the 'Cats on top as he made sliding shot from 14 yards out and was able to get it past the Pirates goalkeeper.
Irvin Figueroa was able to add to Linfield's lead as he took a free kick from 20 yards out in the 79
th minute.
Whitworth totaled 21 shots with eight of them being on goal compared to Linfield's 11 total shots and nine being on target.
Cameron Perron collected seven saved for the 'Cats.
