MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — Camy Aguinaldo drove home a game-high 20 points to lead the Whitworth Pirates over the Linfield Wildcats 78-63 in a Northwest Conference contest Saturday at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
How it happened
Hitting five three-pointers in the first quarter, the Pirates jumped out to an early 12-point lead before pushing their lead to 27 midway through the second. However, Linfield's
Kory Oleson hit three consecutive field goals to bring the margin to 16 by the conclusion of the second quarter. In the third quarter, Linfield brought the game within 12 points, but it wasn't enough, as Whitworth pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the 15-point victory.
Whitworth by the numbers
On top of her 20 points, Aguinaldo added five assists, a rebound and a steal. Aiding the Pirates were Madison Moffat, who scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Grace Douglas, who added 15 points and two assists. Lexi Tinney contributed 11 points to go with three assists.
Whitworth finished with 12 for 28 from beyond the three-point arc. In comparison, Linfield went 1 for 12.
How Linfield stacked up
Oleson and
Molly Danielson led the Wildcats with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Audrey McMillan scored seven and recorded an assist and a block, and
Erin Burns added three assists and three points.
Paige Graham chipped in with seven points, two assists and three rebounds, while
Cameron Reuter had four points and three assists.
What it means
The Wildcats dropped to 7-10 overall and 3-5 in conference action. The win boosts the Pirates to 7-10 and 2-6.
