PORTLAND, Ore. — Led by 20 points and 11 rebounds from
Molly Danielson, the Linfield Wildcats won their season opener against the Corban Warriors, prevailing 84-77 at Pamplin Sports Center on Saturday. The game was part of the four-team Bon Appetit Tip-Off Classic hosted by Lewis & Clark College.
How it played out
The Wildcats gained control early, generating an eight-point lead by the end of the first quarter. En route to victory, Linfield never relinquished the lead from that point forward.
Linfield by the numbers
Coming off the bench, Danielson went 9-for-18 from the field. Her 11 rebounds included six on the offensive glass.
The Wildcats outshot the Warriors from the field, .448 to .397. Linfield also had more rebounds, leading to 25 second-chance points compared with Corban's six.
Aiding the Linfield cause was a 37-point outing by the Wildcats' bench, which more than doubled Corban's 15-point output.
Bailey McDevitt came off the bench for 17 points and nine rebounds.
Audrey McMillan and
Kory Oleson added 11 points apiece in starting roles, while
Paige Graham dropped in 10 points to go with five rebounds.
Jade Everage led the 'Cats in assists with six while adding seven points and three rebounds.
For the Warriors
Jordan Woodvine scored a game-high 27 points. Treasure Farmer added 14 points, six rebounds and six assists. Maci Bozett chipped in with 10 points, four assists and three rebounds and Emily Yost scored five points while grabbing five rebounds.
Where they stand
The Wildcats are 1-0 on the season. The Warriors, members of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, fell to 2-2.
