Linfield falls 67-58 to St. Catherine's

PORTLAND, Ore. — Playing their second game of the Bon Appetit Tipoff Classic, the Linfield Wildcats dropped a 67-58 nonconference decision to the St. Catherine (Minn.) Sunday at Lewis & Clark College's Pamplin Sports Center.
 
Led by Danica Cambrice's game-high 21 points, seven rebounds and five steals, St. Catherine was unfazed by Linfield's team effort. St. Catherine outshot Linfield, .500 to .435, and forced the Wildcats into 27 turnovers, including 16 in the first half.
 
Aiding St. Catherine's effort was Meg Clark, who recorded 11 points, three rebounds and two steals. Jackie Radford chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists.St. Catherine jumped out to an eight-point lead in the first quarter and steadily pulled away from there.
 
For Linfield, Paige Graham and Molly Danielson led the way with 13 points apiece. On top of her 13 points, Danielson recorded her second straight double-double, snaring 10 rebounds while adding two steals.
 
As a team, Linfield outrebounded St. Catherine while also scoring more second chance and bench points, but they were unable to turn those advantages into a lead.
 
Kory Oleson had 11 points, three rebounds and a block, while Genna Hughes recorded seven points and seven rebounds. Audrey McMillan and Bailey McDevitt both added six points.
 
The loss dropped Linfield to 1-1 overall. St. Catherine improvee to 2-1 for the season.
 
Coming up
Linfield plays its home opener Monday against Whittier at Ted Wilson Gymnasium starting at 5 p.m.
