FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Three goals in an eight-minute stretch spanning both halves sparked the Pacific Boxers to a 4-1 Northwest Conference win over the Linfield Wildcats Saturday at Ledbetter Field.
Heavy rain and wind made conditions less than ideal for both sides. The Boxers managed 12 shots (seven on goal) while the Wildcats launched nine shots (two on goal).
Weli Alamillo scored in the 42
nd minute to give the Boxers a 1-0 advantage at intermission.
Less than three minutes into the second half, Peter Vizzoni made it 2-0, scoring unassisted on a sprint down the right side that ende with a blast from 10 yards away.
Matt Kimball of Pacific scored his sixth goal of the season two minutes later on an unassisted shot from 12 yards out, beating Wildcats goalkeeper
Eli Peckham.
In the 63rd minute, Robert Nurmi pushed the score to 4-0 on a tap-in play set up by Vizzoni's crossing pass from the right side.
Linfield's
Henry Rosenfeld picked up his second goal of the year in the 85th minute, taking a feed from Wildcats freshman
Dayton Farrow and drilling the ball to the back of the net from 15 yards.
Peckham finished with three saves. Boxers goalkeeper Leyton Thommasen was called on to make just one save. In addition to Rosenfeld's goal,
Malachi Stalberg attempted Linfield's only other shot on goal.
