WHY LINFIELD? When touring Linfield, I was thinking about the family history I have with the school and how my Nana and Papa love it. During my tour the campus has a "home-like" feel - I spent a lot of my childhood in Mac as my grandparents lived on a farm right outside town. I met Coach Simmons after my tour and quickly realized I needed to play for his team. He talked about soccer in a way that I instantly respected and you could tell that he truly cared about his team. A couple of months ago, I attended scholarship day and was able to present my art portfolio to two of the art professors. The two professors I met were so unique and open, we pretty much learned their life stories and had a wonderful interview. They also gave me amazing feedback on my art and great constructive critique. So, all in all - it was an easy decision.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD? Being part of a team is so incredibly important to me and it teaches you life lessons that you can hold onto for the rest of your life. I have been a student-athlete my whole life. Playing soccer at Linfield will allow me to play at the next level, but it will also allow me to find a family and a place I can call a home away from home. Being a student-athlete forces you to stay focused but also have a wonderful competitive outlet.

WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE? I am always searching for new things to get involved in and with soccer, it helps me with meeting new people, making new friends, and having connections to things I hadn't before. When thinking of being a student-athlete, I always think of being a leader on and off the field. My parents have really showed an amazing balance between activities - my mom is a genius and super-hard worker and my dad was a college soccer player/my coach and a business owner. Seeing both of them as my role models it makes me realize you can really do it all. I am also extremely dyslexic and it has made me work much harder as a student and develop grit. This translates into soccer with hard work - doing sprints after practice, going to the gym every day on top of practice because I know if I better myself - I am able to be a better teammate, student, friend and family member.

WHAT IS NEXT AFTER LINFIELD? I am planning on majoring in art and minoring in psychology. I want to use this training to become an art therapist and have a positive impact on my patients' mental health. I will allow my clients to express themselves in ways that they did not know were possible. They will be able to work through personal conflicts and conflicts with others in a unique way. My main goal is to help as many people as possible and this is a great way to accomplish it.
