PERSONAL INFORMATION
Son of Lisa and John Estes.
Graduated from Linfield in spring 2023 with Bachelor’s Degree.
Attending Linfield University’s Master of Science in Business program.
WHAT ARE THE REASONS YOU CHOSE TO ATTEND LINFIELD? I chose Linfield to continue playing basketball as well as being able to set up connections/relationships for my future after college. I also want to pursue a degree in Linfield's highly regarded Sport Management program.
WHAT DOES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT LINFIELD MEAN TO YOU? Being a student-athlete means I can pursue excellence in the classroom as well as on the court. It is also a reflection that I can accomplish goals I have set for myself.
HOW HAS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS MADE YOU A BETTER PERSON? Participating in sports has given me the opportunity to become a better person in many ways. Sports have allowed me to work within a team setting to achieve a common goal. Playing sports has also given me the opportunity to perform under pressure. Athletics have also taught me the meaning of sacrifice, if you want to be good at something, it is going to take hours upon hours of work to be successful. Sports have also taught me great leadership skills I can apply to other aspects of life.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS? In 10 years, I see myself coaching college basketball. Since elementary school it has been my dream to coach at the college level and impact my players lives in a positive way like my previous coaches have done for me.
WHAT’S THE BEST LINFIELD CLASS YOU’VE TAKEN? The best class I took here at Linfield was Ms. Romero's financial management class. This class helped me realize how much I enjoyed finance and working with numbers. Ms. Romero made a huge impact on my undergrad success here at Linfield.
WHO HAS BEEN THE GREATEST INSPIRATION IN YOUR LIFE? My greatest inspirations are my mom, Lisa Estes, and my former club coach, Frank Allocco Jr. Both my mom and former coach have very high work ethics and have helped shape the person I am today. I would not be the hard worker and leader I am without them.
THE GREATEST PRINCIPLE OR LESSON THAT I’VE LEARNED WHILE COMPETING IN ATHLETICS AT LINFIELD HAS BEEN… The greatest lesson I've learned is to just keep pushing through, especially when adversity hits. I tore a tendon in my foot my first year here at Linfield and that was a big setback. However, through hard work and determination I was able to be ready for fall workouts the following season.
AS A LINFIELD STUDENT-ATHLETE, MY GOALS INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY FOR MY TEAM ARE… I don't have any individual goals; I only want our team to see constant improvement and be the best team we can be by the end of the season.
