SPOKANE, Wash. – Linfield men's golf put together a strong final round on Monday to secure second place at the Whitworth Fall Invitational, led by senior Douglas Bailey who's final round 66 propelled him to a third-place finish.

Douglas Bailey continued his momentum from last Spring, jumping up 12 places on Monday to earn a third-place individual finish, carding rounds of 72 and 66, finishing at four-under. After an opening round that included four birdies, Bailey caught fire during Monday's final round. His 5-under 66 featured an eagle on the par five second hole along with birdies on holes 6, 7, 11, 12, 14 and 17. Bailey played the back nine in three-under 33.

Sophomore Brody Landaker tied for seventh at even par following rounds of 72 and 70. Landaker closed his opening round with a 1-under 35 on the back nine, highlighted by birdies on 11 and 18. He followed it up with a 1-under 70 Monday, using birdies on holes 10, 13 and 15 to help produce a 3-under 33 on the back nine.

Jake Rodgers made his collegiate debut over the weekend, finishing one stroke behind Landaker, tying for 10th at 1-over with rounds of 70 and 73. Rodgers' opening 70 included birdies on holes four and eight as well as three more on the back nine on 10, 12 and 14. 

Sophomore Timothy Morach tied for 16th at two-over after posting a pair of steady rounds, shooting 71 on Sunday and 73 on Monday. Morach's opening round featured birdies on holes 5, 10, 12, 14, 15 and 18. He added four more birdies in the final round, including a two on the par-3 11th. His two-over total is his lowest 36-hole total in his collegiate career.

Gunnar Lee rounded out Linfield's lineup, also making his collegiate debut. Lee tied for 46th at 10-over after rounds of 74 and 78. He made four birdies during his opening 74, including three on the front nine, before adding birdies on holes 7, 8, 11 and 13 in the final round.

Like many other Northwest Conference teams in the tournament, the Wildcats sent a "B" team to compete as well. The second squad for Linfield placed sixth of 11 teams at 12-over par, the best finish by any of the five "B" squads; and seven-strokes better than George Fox's varsity group.

Freshman Jake Hyland led the second team after he turned in a 69 in his first college round, following it up with a 75 on Monday to tie for 10^th. Ryder Ng was consistent with rounds of 73, 71, to finish tied for 16^th. Sophomore Owen Irving carded rounds of 74, 73, to finish tied for 24^th. 

Freshman Kade Fisher and junior Emmett Cox tied for 40^th place, each finishing the tournament at eight-over. Freshman Christian Arguello rounded out the team, improving on an 82 on Sunday to fire a 78 and finish tied for 53^rd. 

Whitman claimed the team title with a 12-under total over two rounds, while the Blues' Grady Brown shot rounds of 68, 67, to win medalist honors by two strokes. 

The Wildcats return to the course in two weeks, competing in the Whitworth Chambers Bay Invitational in University Place, Washington, on September 26^th and 27^th.
