Linfield athletics welcomes the addition of Katrina Johns, Director of Sports Performance and Fitness, and Mitch Wilson, Assistant Director of Sports Performance and Fitness, to the department staff beginning in the Fall of 2026.

Johns, a former member of the Linfield softball team, graduated in 2023 with her degree in sports management with a minor in psychology. She returns to McMinnville after spending the past two years training athletes at Yakima Sports Performance near her hometown of Naches, Washington.

"I am excited to return to Linfield and be able to give back to the community that supported me during my athletic career. Getting to share the love and passion that I have for athletics with the athletes here now is such a blessing." Said Johns on her return to Linfield.

She competed on the softball team at Linfield for four seasons, boasting a career .338 batting average with 12 home runs and 91 runs batted in. She was recognized as a Second Team All-Northwest Conference shortstop and named Third Team All-West Region in her junior year before earning First Team All-NWC honors in her senior season.

Wilson moves into the assistant director role alongside Johns, currently also serving as the Director of Golf for both the men's and women's golf teams at Linfield. Entering into his eighth year at Linfield, Wilson has previously assisted the Linfield athletic department as a strength and conditioning coach, building upon his five prior years of experience as a personal trainer.

He is a graduate of Bushnell University (formerly Northwest Christian University), in Eugene where he competed in basketball. He graduated from NCU in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. After graduation, he played two seasons of semi-professional basketball with the Salem Sabers of the International Basketball League.

Wilson led the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the 2026 Northwest Conference Men's Golf Championship, having won the NWC Spring Classic in Tacoma, Washington. He earned the conference's Coach of the Year honors after coaching the conference's Player of the Year and back-to-back NWC Championship Medalist in Douglas Bailey. Wilson coached Bailey to the Wildcats first appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship in over a decade, helping Bailey to finish T-27 in the tournament. The historic men's golf season saw Wilson lead three All-Northwest Conference honorees, one GCAA PING All-Region, and an Honorable Mention All-American.

Johns and Wilson are now set to lead the revamped Sports Performance and Fitness department, overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning for Linfield student-athletes.
