Aven's three homers earn final NWC Athlete of the Week award

| By:
Senior Catcher #20 Ashlyn Aven
Continuing to lead the nation in home runs and runs batted in, Linfield softball senior catcher Ashlyn Aven earned yet another Northwest Conference Softball Athlete of the Week honor.

Aven continues to crush the ball, hitting three home runs and a double to lead the Wildcats to a series sweep over Puget Sound in the final regular-season series of the year. She went 7-11 at the dish, scoring seven runs and driving in six, while being walked twice.

The catcher was previously named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's Region X Player of the Year Watch List, where she continued to pad her resume as the nation's top power bat. Last weekend, she was honored alongside teammate Cydney Hess as CatBall's two seniors.

Along with her Division III-leading home runs, total bases, and RBIs, Aven also is No. 2 in the country in sacrifice flies (6) and slugging percentage (1.024).

Nationally-ranked No.8 in Division III, Linfield softball (34-6, 22-6 NWC) completed the regular season last weekend, taking down the Puget Sound Loggers in the four-game series. The 'Cats enter the postseason as the No. 2-seed in the Northwest Conference Softball tournament, hosted by Pacific Lutheran this weekend in Tacoma, Washington.
