Junior outfielder
Meara Sain continued to crush the ball last weekend in a four-game series sweep at NWC-rival Whitworth, earning her first Northwest Conference Softball Athlete of Week honor this season.
Â
The Eugene, Oregon native went 8-for-13 at the dish (.615), notching eight doubles and a pair of home runs to drive in a team-high nine runs in the series. Linfield's bats cruised past Whitworth, ending three of the four games early via the run-rule. Sain slugged 1.462 in the four games, walking once and striking out just once in her 13 at bats.
Â
Sain ranks as the Northwest Conference's top hitter with a .524 batting average and an OPS of 1.452. The junior also leads the NWC in doubles and on-base percentage. Nationally, the outfielder is No. 19 in batting average, No. 3 in doubles, No. 9 in hits and No. 17 in runs batted in.Â
Â
A former First Team All-NWC honoree, Sain is the daughter of Erin Moser and Dustin Sain and is currently majoring in Exercise Science at Linfield.
Â
Softball is back on the road this weekend in Forest Grove, Oregon, taking on the Pacific Boxers in a four-game NWC series beginning Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
