Five 'Cats score in 5-2 rout of Warner Pacific

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. --- Linfield women's soccer (1-0-2) grabbed their first win of the 2025 season on Friday night under the lights of the Linfield Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. A four-goal second half propelled the 'Cats over the Knights of Warner Pacific, 5-2.

Warner Pacific struck first in the 16th minute, but the lead was short-lived, as Linfield equalized less than two minutes later. Lena Caballero Uhtoff finished a crisp pass from Amalia Tufts, leveling the score at 1–1, which held into halftime.

The Wildcats took control after the break. Just five minutes into the second half, Jocelyn Jacobs buried a feed from Tufts to give the 'Cats their first lead. Defender Marley Ells doubled the advantage in the 58th minute, again assisted by Tufts, who finished with a game-high three assists.

The Knights fought back shortly after in the 64th minute, cutting the deficit to 3–2. Julia Alvarez restored the two-goal cushion in the 75th minute, assisted by Lize Rendon and Fia Swanson. Rendon then put the game away with an unassisted strike moments later in the 83rd minute. Linfield made the most of their home opener, capturing a 5-2 win over Warner Pacific of the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Statistically, the Wildcats outshot the Knights 18–4, with a 13-4 advantage in shots on-target.

Junior keeper Alexa Fritz earned the win, making two saves across 90 minutes. The Wildcats' attack featured five-different goal scorers, while Tufts orchestrated the offense with her trio of assists.

The Wildcats continue their homestand this Sunday, set to face the Redlands Bulldogs at 1 p.m.
