DUPONT, Wash. --- Linfield men's golf battled the windy, rainy, conditions of the Pacific Northwest over two rounds at the PLU Invitational at The Home Course, finishing in fourth as a team in the 13-team field.
Douglas Bailey kicked off the tournament with the Wildcats lone under-par round, thanks to four birdies of the final six holes to shoot a two-under 70. Bailey finished tied for 13
th-place after a final round 77.
Ryder Ng fired a 75 in the first round, but rebounded well with an even-par 72 on Tuesday. Ng's combined three-over earned him tied with Bailey in 13
th.
Although freshman
Brody Landaker's tournament opened with a 77, including an eagle on the par-five 16
th hole. He recovered with the team's lowest final-round score on Tuesday, sinking four birdies on his way to a one-under 71; finishing tied for 18
th.
Timothy Morach made the most pars for the 'Cats in round one (15), shooting a one-over 73. Morach dropped a few spots after Tuesday's 77, tying for 26
th-place. Senior
Kellen Hudson fired rounds of 75 and 76 to finish one behind Morach, tying for 29
th-place.
Linfield finished in fourth as a team, only behind Willamette, Pacific Lutheran, and Bellevue College. The Bearcats captured the team title, while Soren Bostrom earned medalist honors from Pacific Lutheran.
Competing as individuals,
Owen Irving was tied for 22
nd with rounds of 77 and 72, while
Zach Netter's 75 and 81 put him tied for 46
th.
Men's golf will enjoy a couple weeks of rest and recovery, before the Northwest Conference Fall Classic begins on October 12
th at Oswego Lake Country Club.
