Five Wildcats make CSC Academic All-District list

Five members of the Linfield baseball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District list, recognizing student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

Sophomore pitcher Zack Hampson, junior first baseman Nick Holm, junior outfielder Trent Wainfeld, senior catcher Tyler Marr and senior pitcher Camden Oram were each selected for the honor.

Hampson was a reliable option out of the bullpen this spring, making 17 appearances for the Wildcats. He posted a 2.70 ERA and finished the season with a 2-0 record and two saves across 26.2 innings. Hampson allowed just 20 hits and eight earned runs while striking out 23 batters. Opponents hit just .211 against him, and he showed excellent control with only 10 walks all year.

Holm had another productive campaign at the plate, starting all 41 games at first base. The junior batted .288 with 47 hits, including eight doubles and six home runs, while driving in 36 runs and scoring 33 times. His season was highlighted by a five-RBI performance and a two-home-run game against Lewis & Clark. Holm also proved dependable in the field, posting a .969 fielding percentage.

Wainfeld enjoyed a breakout season, starting 33 games and ranking among team leaders in several offensive categories. The junior outfielder hit .350 with 43 hits in 123 at-bats, delivering eight doubles, two home runs and 26 RBI. He also recorded two stolen bases and committed no errors in the field, finishing with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Wainfeld's standout moment came at Whitman, when he went 5-for-5 with six runs scored, six RBI, two doubles and a home run.

Marr served as one of Linfield's primary catchers, appearing in 35 games. The senior hit .310 with 36 hits in 116 at-bats, tallying seven doubles and 15 RBI. He capped the season in strong fashion, going 4-for-4 in the NWC Tournament matchup with Whitworth. Behind the plate, Marr provided steady defense, recording a .992 fielding percentage with just two errors in 264 chances.

Oram played as a starter on the mound, leading the team in innings pitched with 80.2 across 13 appearances and 11 starts. The senior right-hander compiled a 4-3 record with a 3.90 ERA, striking out 54 batters and walking just 21. Oram threw at least five innings in 11 of his outings, including an eight-inning, one-run performance April 12 against Whitworth.
The CSC will announce the Academic All-America teams on July 1.
