NFCA All-Americans 2024

Linfield's Fantastic Five land spots on NFCA All-America team

In recognition of an off-the-charts 2024 season, five Linfield softball players have earned places on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America team.

The honors were revealed Wednesday night in Marshall, Texas, where Linfield and seven other top-end Division III softball programs have gathered to compete for the NCAA championship trophy.  Linfield and defending national champion Trine shared the distinction of having the most All-America honorees of any one school this year, each with five.

Pitching sensation Tayah Kelley is joined on the All-America first team by second baseman Brynn Nelson and center fielder Claire Seats.

Kaili Saathoff, the Wildcats' leadoff hitter and first baseman, earned a second straight citation on the NFCA All-America second team.

Freshman pitcher Tyler McNeley was a surprise recipient of NFCA honors, picking third team All-America accolades.

A three-time Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Year, Kelley basked in the glow of her third All-America citation and second consecutive first-team honor. This spring, the crafty righthander led Division III in victories (25) and strikeouts (271), was second in pitching appearances (38), and third in complete games (24). A likely first ballot Hall of Famer in the years to come, she will graduate this spring owning nearly every Linfield single-season and career pitching record.

Earning her first NFCA All-America award, Nelson enjoyed an eye-opening season on the way to being named Northwest Conference Player of the Year. Nationally, the junior from Bonney Lake, Washington, ranks fifth in total bases (124), seventh in hits (70) and home runs (14), eighth in slugging percentage (.879), and ninth in RBIs (60),

A native of Seattle, Seats rose from second team NFCA All-America honors a year ago to first-team All-America acclaim. Already a first team all-NWC and first team all-West Region standout, she ranks fourth in Division III in RBIs (66), seventh in home runs (14), and 10th in total bases (117).

Saathoff's 23 doubles led all NWC hitters and ranks second nationally. She also stands third in Division III in hits (75) and fourth in runs per game (1.44).

Named the Tucci/NFCA Division III Freshman of the Year and Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year, McNeley burst onto the scene this spring. The Lakeview, Oregon, resident compiled an 18-0 pitching record while being accorded first team all-NWC and second team all-West Region recognition.

Together, the five Wildcats have propelled Linfield to an historic season. The 'Cats rolled up 44 straight victories to start the year, becoming just the second softball program in collegiate history to record an unblemished regular season.

NCAA Championship play begins Thursday at East Texas Baptist University where the Wildcats are set to take on the Tufts Jumbos at 11 a.m. CDT (9 a.m. PDT) in the tournament opener.
